Fall 2015 Kick-Off

The annual Fall Kick-Off was held, in conjunction with the UCSB RetireesŐ Association, on October 20 at the Mosher Alumni House.  In addition to a social hour, it featured a presentation by one of our own:  Professor Emeritus, Arthur Sylvester, who previewed his new book, Roadside Geology of Southern California (Missoula, Montana: Mountain Press Publishing, 2016).  Approximately 50 guests attended the event.

Emeriti Awards

We have worked with campus officials to better advertise and coordinate the nomination process for the Panunzio and Dickson awards.

UCSB Retiree/Emeriti Enrichment Committee

An ad hoc committee has been established that is a subset of our two boards.  The aim of the committee is to explore ways that our two Associations can cooperatively enhance our campus profile and service to our constituents, with the ultimate goal of establishing a Retiree/Emeriti Center.

á       The committee decided to conduct a formal survey (via Survey Monkey) of the membership of our two associations.  There was a very good response rate, and we will move forward having a better idea of our membersŐ interests.

á       Planning is underway for the second annual ChancellorŐs Reception for 2016 Retirees. This was an initiative of our two Associations that has enthusiastically been supported by Chancellor Yang.

á       Planning is underway for our participation in the UCSB Undergraduate Research Colloquium.  As in past years, the top entries in the Colloquium will be awarded cash prizes donated by our members.
