UC Los Angeles Emeriti Association (UCLA EA) Report
CUCEA/ CUCRA Meeting April 25 & 26, 2016
Changes in Center Director:
Our Center Director, Ragini Gill, who had been in the position since May 4, 2015 relocated to the Stanford Medical Center during the Winter quarter, 2016. We thank John Dahl who served as our Interim Director until Sue Barnes, our new Center director transitioned to UCLA from UC Davis on April 28, 2016.
Emeriti Association Membership:
As reported by Anna Taylor,Membership Chair for March 31, 2016: We have 658 dues paying members consisting of 345 members, and 158 members with spouses. Others are honorary and first timers who are non-dues paying members for a total of 883.
Incoming Officers of UCLA Emeriti Association:
Steve Cederbaum will assume the position of President of the UCLA Emeriti Association for 2016-2017.
Nominees for the positions of corresponding secretary, treasurer, and memers-at-large will be presented for voting at the next business meeting on May 11, 2016.
Monthly After-lunch Programs:
We have continued our monthly after lunch lectures at the Faculty Center where we also wlecom all Retirees Association and Women’s Club members. A complete listing of the program speakers and topics can be found on our website: http://emeriti.errc.ucla.edu/Emeriti-Events.
Quarterly Dinner Programs:
Our quarterly programs continue to be a success. We look forward to our May 11, 2016 program featuring Zev Yaroslvsky who has served in Los Angeles city and county government for 40 years. He will speak on the topic of “40 years in Los Angeles Politics”.
Awards and Business Meeting:
The UCLA Emeriti Association will conduct its award ceremony on the evening of our May Quarterly dinner program. Winners of the Dickson and Goldberg Awards, as well as Emeriti Association Distinguished Service Awards will be honored. A business meeting will be held the same evening.
Annual Arts and Crafts Exhibit:
Our 38th annual Sylvia Winstein UCLA Emeriti Arts and Crafts exhibit will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Faculty Center.
