Letter from the Chair
Council of University of California Emeriti Associations
April 27, 2006
Dear CUCEA Officers, Campus Representatives and Alternates:
I appreciate your confidence in electing me Chair of the Council of University of California Emeriti Associations. I hope to serve you well this coming year (2006-2007).
One of the things I am interested in is providing all of you with more information that we learn from attending Systemwide meetings.
- CUCEA is represented as a guest on the UCRS Advisory Board. The Advisory Board meets four times a year, in November, January, April and June. Its agendas and agenda materials are distributed prior to the meetings and minutes after they are approved. Some meetings are in the form of conference calls. Most of the materials seem not to be confidential and are distributed via e-mail. One item of interest is the COLA for 2006 and COLA methodology which you can view by clicking on the link.
- CUCEA is an ex officio member on the UC Faculty Welfare
Committee, which meets monthly from October through May, and then in
June or July. Its agendas and agenda materials are distributed prior to
meetings via e-mail; however, many of the items are considered
confidential. The minutes, which do not include executive session items,
appear on a web site following approval:
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/senate/committees/ucfw/ - CUCEA is invited to participate in other ad hoc committees or meetings from time to time.
It seems to me the most useful method of disseminating public information from these Systemwide meetings is to put it on the CUCEA web site, which I will do as appropriate and of interest to emeriti. If there are other ideas to help inform you and your associations, please let me know.
Thank you,
Louise E. Taylor
